3D Assist

Assistant: Cylinder Creator.

The Cylinder Creator Assistant is used for distributing layers based on the surface of cylinder. This tool is very useful for creating tubes, tunnels, and half-pipes.

How it works.

The Cylinder Creator will attempt to create a cylinder out of your selected layers. First set the height of the cylinder. The radius of the cylinder can be set in a variety of ways.

You can create the entire cylinder or just a portion of it. Think of the cylinder as being a stack of rings. A ring is created with your layers. Once the ring is completed, the Assistant moves up a given amount and creates another ring, then another, and so on.

We think the Cylinder Creator is one of the coolest Assistants, especially when combined with the Cylinder Distribution for arranging layers within the cylinder.

The parameter list.

Interesting paramaters include the Height Min/Max values, which set the height of the cylinder. Longitude determines where layers are placed as the Assistant moves around the cylinder ring. The Radius Is Set By? checkbox keeps the layer edges from intersecting. Distribute Evenly will place your selected layers at regular increments around the surface of the cylinder.
