3D Assist

Four Creator Assistants.

Creator Assistants are designed to create the selected primitive out of the layers you select. This allows you to quickly set up common shapes fully within After Effect’s 3D space. Set up shapes like a video wall, cube, tunnel, or ring. You just need to set the dimensions, how the shape is going to look, and how many layers you’re going to use. The Assistants do the rest, calculating all the position, orientation and scaling information.

Four Pro & four Lite tools.

There are four 'Pro' Creator Assistants. Each focuses on creating a different kind of shape. There are also simplified 'Lite' versions of each of these four tools.

Box Creator Pro & Lite.

Distributes layers into a rectangular or cubic shape. Distributes layers based on the surface of a rectangular solid or a cube. Use this Assistant to create cubes, boxes, tunnels, and walls. [more]

A cube animates into a sphere using the Box Creator and Spheriod Creator. [play]

Cylinder Creator Pro & Lite.

Distributes layers into a cylinder. Distributes layers based on the surface of a cylinder. This Assistant arranges layers in a circle with a given radius, then stacks the rings of layers to form a cylinder. [more]

Create a spiraling pinwheel in AE's 3D space with Cylinder Creator Lite, then fly the camera through it. [play]

Matrix Creator Pro & Lite.

Creates uniform grids or walls of images. Similar in functionality to the Planar Assistant, but the Matrix specializes in creating grids or walls of images. Good for creating a uniform wall of images. [more]

Matrix Creator was used to arrange these layers into a video wall. [play]

Spheriod Creator Pro & Lite.

Distributes layers into a sphere or ellipsoid, or based on the surface of sphere or ellipsoid. There is no way to create a perfect sphere with rectilinear layers. Therefore, this Assistant puts layers at a tangent to a point on the sphere, which creates sphere-like shapes. [more]
