3D Assist

Assistant: Linear Distribution.

The Linear Assistant is used for distributing layers in a straight line along the X, Y, or Z-axis of a composition. You can alter the position of 3D layers, the layers’ orientation; and how they arrange themselves along the axis.

How it works.

Using Linear Distribution is pretty easy. Just line all of your layers along one axis, essentially forming a straight line.

It's fun to use Linear Distribution in conjunction with other Assistants to further manipulate what the tool has created. For instance, create a video wall with the Matrix Assistant, then use the Linear Assistant to move those layers just along the Z-axis.

The Planar Disribution Assistant is similar to Linear Distribution, except it allows distribution along two dimensions.

Linear Distribution lines up 3D layers in XYZ space.

The parameter list.

Interesting paramaters include Use End Value, which distributes the layers in a defined distance in 3D space. Distance determines how far apart the layers will be distributed. Affected Selected Axis Only is an interesting parameter. If you tell the Assistant to re-position the layers, they will only be re-positioned on the selected axis.
