Use Material swatches.

A Material Swatch contains colors, texture maps and rendering styles. Drag material swatches onto objects in the 3D preview window to apply the material. It's that simple.

3D Objects that use a Material Swatch are linked to that swatch. If you have multiple objects using the same swatch, you can update one material to update all the 3D objects. It's a fast, simple way of working.

To edit or create additional material swatches, use the Material Editor panel.

The Material Editor.

The Material Editor panel lets you assign colors and textures to individual parts of your 3D object. Drag and drop Material Swatches into the palette to apply more than one material to an object.

  • Select a material type to change the rendering style.
  • Apply texture, bump, transparency and reflectivity maps via the image thumbnails.
  • Select a pixel-based file to use as a texture map.
  • Use the Color box to pick a color.
  • Use the Preview ball to drag-and-drop a material or to edit a preset.

Use Object Styles.

An Object Style contains all the settings of a 3D object.

The materials, edge profiles and depth settings are saved as a style and stored for later use. This lets you quickly apply an existing style to your 3D objects, or save your own styles for future projects.
