Backdrop Designer

Create your own presets.

Not only does Backdrop Designer ship with hundreds of presets, it also lets you save your own. Let’s explore how to create and manage your own Custom presets. This is a great feature that lets you take advantage of the premade imagery that is shipped. Put a little time into making them perfect and save these custom combos for future projects.

Save new Texture/Shadow combos.

On the Presets page, we talk about Combo presets, which are Texture and Shadow combinations. You can save your own Texture/Shadow creations with the Add Preset button. These presets are saved into the main Preset Manager of Backdrop Designer.

The Add Preset button looks like a Plus sign and is located along the Menu Bar. This button opens up the Preset Manager with a new Preset entry activated.

Enter a Name for the preset. Once you click the ‘OK’ button, your new preset will be saved into the selected category.

Adding Notes with a new preset will help you to remember the ones you have used successfully. Notes will also help you to avoid using the same backdrop too often.

Organize with Categories.

Categories are a great way to organize your use of Backdrop Designer for ongoing and reoccuring projects. For instance, if you do a lot of senior photography, you may want to create a Category for each high school that you visit. If you operate a quick-photo kiosk in a mall, create Categories for seasons or holidays or special events. Each Category gets saved as a .PRS file in your Photoshop/
Plugins directory.
