Primatte Chromakey 3.0 Software : Adobe Photoshop Tools

Two great ways to mask with Primatte Chromakey 3.0.

It's always been simple to get started with Primatte Chromakey 3.0. Just click and drag with three simple tools for Adobe Photoshop. Now in Primatte Chromakey 3.0, we have introduced an even faster method: the new AutoMask button.

The one-click AutoMask.

AutoMask allows you to automatically pull a key on your image. Traditionally in Primatte Chromakey 2.0, you’ve needed to go through at least three steps to remove a chromakey background.

AutoMask lets you to skip these steps and get rid of your chromakey background with one click. Using AutoMask is pretty simple: You just turn on the button.

The best use of AutoMask is as part of an Action / Batch process. For folks who process large volumes of images, this is a huge new feature. Read more about Action and Batch automation.

Tips for using AutoMask.

One of the ways AutoMask determines the correct color is by analyzing the right, left, and top of the image. It’s important for the green / blue screen to cover the entire background, and that the back screen is flat and evenly lit. With properly shot images, hundreds of images can be masked at once.

AutoMask is really limited to head / shoulder and ¾ shots, and the images must be shot with excellent chromakey techniques. The better your source photo is set up for chromakey work, the better the AutoMask feature will work.

The three-step alternative.

If AutoMask doesn't work perfectly on your photos, there is another method to create a mask in Primatte. This is the three-tool process that was introduced in Primatte version 2.0.

It's a fast and easy way to work. The masking steps are Select, Clean BG and Clean FG.

The Selection Tool.

The Selection Tool is new to Primate Chromakey 3.0. This button lets you choose either a Point or Box option for manually selecting pixels for the Select, Clean BG and Clean FG masking tools.

1- Select Tool.

The target color within the image window. Basically, you are selecting your background color for removal. Select is the first step for keying, and this tool is selected by default when you first apply Primatte.

2- Clean BG.

The second step is to clean out Background noise. Clean BG samples pixels in the image window known to be 100% background. White noisy areas in the Mask will become black.

3- Clean FG.

The third step is to clean out Foreground noise. Clean FG samples pixels known to be 100% foreground. The color of the sampled pixels are registered as the colors in the original foreground image. Dark gray areas in your Mask will turn white.
