Steve Roberts, Reid Roberts Digital Studio, 2004

Reid Roberts is a design firm located in Toronto, Ontario. The design principle, Steve Roberts, created these compositions for a user group lecture.

The red movie uses the Text Martix plugin, which generates and animates lines of text on a built-in alpha channel. A still bitmap image was placed behind the text layers. [play]

The blue simulation screen uses text movies as texture maps on 3D objects in Lightwave. The plugs used were Screen Text (in the left-side boxes), Text Matrix (in the tall right-side box), and Text Grid. [play]

Steve Ogden, 2004

www.steveo.tv

Steve Ogden is freelance motion graphics designer in Oakland, CA. Steve said about this piece, "I used Text Hacker for a classic 'decoder' effect, where a random stream of characters resolves into setting the plot of this low-budget trailer created for a satirical performance piece. Adding a little shine and scale pushes the viewer through space to the next line."

Steve continues, "Text Matrix and Text Grid are my other favorites in the suite. I think we're over the standard 'Matrix' effect', but you can still make all kinds of interesting patterns with just an appropriate set of dingbats and a couple of keyframes."

Client: ALR Design, Richmond, VA
