Text Anarchy

Add randomness to your life.

Text Anarchy plugins are chock full of Randomness parameters. These sliders allow you to adjust the behavior of your Text Anarchy particles without laboring over those choices. Randomness comes in amazingly handy when you're trying to just break things up a bit. Grab the slider, scrub to find the variations you like, and you're done. Your project will look more organic with less work.

Some technical stuff...

A Randomness parameter helps you vary the values of the parameter its associated with. These options are great for creating wildly varying animation. You can do this work in seconds, literally, often without having to set keyframes or give up overall control of the animation. Randomness is essentially a built-in Wiggler (if you're familiar with that After Effects filter) for the parameter it is associated with.

Of course, having 'Randomness' around does increase the number of parameters in a Text Anarchy (or Geomancy) plugin. This can make the plugin look a bit more daunting than it really is. Check out some of our tutorials and you'll be fine.

An example of randomness.

Want a good example of what Randomness does? Let's take a look at two parameters in the Text Matrix plugin.

The Length of Streams option can easily be varied using its counterpart, Length Randomness.

Let's say ‘Length of Streams’ is set to 16. Your text streams are moving 16 frames/second. If we set 'Length Randomness' to 50, we’ll end up with a range of 8 to 24 fps. This will make the text streams move at different rates with no keyframes set.

Your result? Just look at the two images at right. The composition at left has no Randomness and is less interesting visually.
