Filter: TypeOn.
TypeOn simulates the popular effect of a typewriter or other mechanical device typing onto a screen. This gives you a high degree of control over how and when text appears onscreen.
TypeOn is pretty easy to use. Set up your text characters, set the Completion parameter for typing-on behavior, and choose a cursor. |

The Completion option.
The main parameter in TypeOn is Completion. This controls how the text simulates typing. As you animate 'Completion' from 0 to 100, the characters type onscreen.
A value of 100% will result in all of the text being typed. If a lot of text is animated over a short time period will appear to type onscreen very rapidly.
To mimic the uneven typing rate of a keyboard, set the keyframes at uneven intervals, and don't use interpolation.
The Completion Randomness option produces an interesting effect. The percentage of completed, typed-on text will jump around to create a random, chaotic animation with text typing itself on and off. Very cool stuff. |

Completion is keyed from 0% to 100% in 5.0 sec at 18 fps. Type On is set to Normal and we're using Leading Line Cursor. [play] |

Overwrite & Type On options.
The 'Overwrite' parameter is pretty simple. If you have multiple lines of text, as one line gets completed, the next line will overwrite it. By default, the text will just scroll up and disappear to make room for the new line.
The 'TypeOn' parameter aligns your rows of text. 'Normal' is right-aligned, which creates the effect of typing on a computer.
'Left' makes the typing behave like a typewriter. 'Random' has the text appearing randomly as you increase the 'Completion' percentage. |

Two instances of TypeOn. One layer is keyframed erratically and the TypeOn option is set to
Random. For the number layer, Overwrite is turned on. [play] |

Four choices of cursor.
A cursor adds realism to typing on text. We give you four 'Cursor' styles to choose from.
Choose a block cursor (like an Irix system), an inverted square over the last character, or an underline before the first or last character. As a final option, you can choose to keep the cursor turned off.

Compare to Screen Text.
TypeOn draws some similarity to another Text Anarchy plugin, Screen Text. But there's a difference! TypeOn creates visuals that seem as if they are typed in by a human. In contrast, Screen Text is designed to produce scrolling rows of computer-generated text.
