Fun Aperture Cartoon Effects
Some Cartoon Effects in ToonIt! are color designs that produce results a little different than the typical cartoon. The designs tend to give a more stylized and dramatic look to the cartoon. Read on to see how ToonIt! for Aperture transforms our photographs into some really interesting cartooning effects. Add a dot pattern, a grainy black pattern or deep black shadows. |

Halftone Effects.
‘Halftone’ is the reprographic technique that simulates continuous tone imagery through the use of equally spaced dots of varying size. The traditional halftone process creates a basic optical illusion, in which these tiny halftone dots are blended into smooth tones by the human eye. Typically, halftone refers to a printing process. In ToonIt!, we are referring to an onscreen visual.

Stipple Effects.
‘Stippling’ is the technique of using small dots to simulate varying degrees of solidity or shading. Traditionally, this technique produces shaded line art illustrations in drawing or painting, in addition to being a printing and printmaking technique.
In the cartoon plugin, ToonIt!, our Stipple params create varying densities of noise to simulate that look. Stipple acts as a black grain that represents darks of an image with circular dots of different sizes and densities.

Shadow Effects.
Shadow fills in the cartoon color fields with a dark value. This can quickly create a dramatic effect. Accompanying Shadow is Tint Foreground, which acts as an extreme Lightness parameter. Tint leaves the footage colors but wipes out darks. This can either blow away the Shadow darks or add an overlay to the darked areas..
