Digital Anarchy Releases Free Update to Popular Elements of Anarchy: Text Plugins
Improvements to Tools Make Text Effects in After Effects and Final Cut Pro Even Easier
Palo Alto, CA June 27, 2001
Digital Anarchy today announced the availability of Elements of Anarchy: Text 1.1. The update to the popular After Effects plugin, provides improved compatibility with most applications that are compatible with the AE plugin specification, contains a number of bug fixes, and makes small improvements in functionality. The plugins produce a variety of text based effects using a particle system. They're very powerful for easily producing random text, controlling and animating large amounts of text, and distorting text.
Among the applications tested and supported: Final Cut Pro 2.0, Commotion 4.0, and Elastic Gasket for Avid (allows the use of AE plugins with Avid). All of these applications provide similar capabilities as After Effects and should be able to take advantage of Elements of Anarchy: Text's unique way of handling text elements.
A few features should be significantly faster with the new update, particularly when using paths to control text streams. There have also been a number of bug fixes, and some improvements to functionality.
Flexible & Powerful Way to Control Text.
The plugins in Elements of Anarchy: Text can either generate text or other characters randomly, or they can accept user specified text, either entered manually, or supplied in a text document. In addition, any Truetype or Postscript Type 1 font can be used, which opens up a world of possibility with different typefaces, 'clip-art' or symbol fonts, and foreign language fonts. The plugins included in the set are:
Text Matrix: A particle system for text. It creates streams of characters that are easily animatable. The streams (or single letters) can follow paths, and have a wide variety of attributes that can be set and animated. Allowing you to easily create effects similar to the raining text effect seen in some recent movies, and many other type treatments.
Text Grid: Creates a grid of characters. Characters can flow across the grid or the grid itself can be animated. How often the characters change or what type of characters (numbers, characters, upper ascii characters) are easy to set. Definable sections of the grid can be zoomed in or out.
Screen Text: Scrolls text like a computer terminal. Lines of text can be set to 'type' themselves on or do a 'Star Wars' style text scroll. Allowing you to quickly and easily change the way the type positions itself on the screen or what it looks like.
Broadcast designer Gary Reisman, formerly from the NBC Agency, MAGIC Room (Burbank, CA), had this to say about the plugins: "The plugins have been great in allowing me to easily create some complex backgrounds. Usually these kind of text effects can take quite awhile and be fairly tedious. It really simplifies doing these types of designs."
"This has been a lifesaver in my production environment. My clients here in the San Francisco bay area are expecting a creative look in the motion graphics I create. Elements of Anarchy Type allows me to quickly generate random type or binary code for 2D backgrounds and 3D texture maps which would normally take hours or days to create." Matt Silverman, motion graphics designer, San Francisco
"Elements of Anarchy: Text is easily the most effective, time-saving and best value for money plugin I've ever had the pleasure of using" Jared Cocken, Williams Digital Media, Ireland
Pricing & Availability.
The update is free to registered users. The release is priced at $79, for a limited time. It is available on both Macintosh and Windows platforms, and can be used with After Effects 4.x and 5.0, as well as the other applications mentioned.
